Meet Megan
I'm Megan, the freelance designer behind Black Vellum Design Co. I bring ten years of experience in the wine industry to my work, combining a creative eye with an understanding of the business behind the bottle. My background includes consulting with wine businesses to identify opportunities for growth in a challenging market. That experience has shaped the way I approach design. It has taught me to think about the consumer: what catches their attention, what communicates value, and what makes a brand feel relevant to them. With wine, that conversation often begins with the label. Before someone tastes what's inside, they encounter the typography, the colour, the texture, and the story your bottle tells. Those details create an expectation. They can express heritage, suggest a sense of place, introduce something unexpected, or give someone a reason to take a closer look. My role is to translate your brand's story into a visual identity that feels authentic and connects with the people you want to reach. My designs have been featured in Wine Enthusiast magazine and appear on wines sold internationally, from Japan to the United States, including at major retailers such as Costco. Seeing that work reach different markets reinforces the care I bring to every design: it needs to communicate clearly wherever someone encounters it. Black Vellum Design Co. brings that industry perspective and creative approach together, with intention behind every detail.
